THE 5th ASIAN CONFERENCE ON COMPARATIVE LAWS
(ASIAN-COL)

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 7-8 August 2024

Selected papers will be published in Proceeding indexed by Scopus.

The ASIAN-COL 2024 will use the EDAS conference management system for the distribution of papers and blind reviews. The processing of the submitted papers for this post-conference publication will be managed by a scientific committee, consisting of the editorial board and peer reviewers selected from various institutions from different countries and expertise.

Based on the PEER review process, all manuscripts submitted to the ASIAN-COL 2024 must be within Focus and Scope, and the Author Guidelines of this conference. Those manuscripts must have novelty and no malpractices. The manuscript must be written in good English. Authors who are coming from non-native English speakers are highly recommended to send their manuscripts to a professional proof-reader before submitting them.

Authors must avoid plagiarism, and they are encouraged to check the plagiarism with similarity check software. Editors will check the similarity index with Turnitin. The ASIAN-COL 2024 only accepts manuscripts with a similarity index of less than 25%.

The research manuscripts submitted to this conference will be peer-reviewed by at least 5 (five) reviewers. Double-blind review is applied, where authors’ or reviewers’ identities are kept confidential. The final decision of the submitted manuscript is made by the Editor based on the reviewers’ critical comments.

Participants will be charged based on the recommendation given by the scientific committee alongside the participant’s agreement.

Publication opportunities selected papers that meet the criteria will be published on the Proceeding index Scopus.

The ASIAN-COL 2024 uses the EDAS system to manage its paper submission, review, and registration process.  All manuscripts submitted to the ASIAN-COL 2024 will be reviewed with the following mechanism.  First, each manuscript will be checked for similarity using a plagiarism-checking tool provided by the EDAS system.  For specific cases, the ASIAN-COL 2024 Committee will also use the Turnitin plagiarism-checking tool to double-check manuscripts.  Any manuscript with a similarity level above 25 % will be returned to its author or adjusted.

Each manuscript that passes the similarity test will be peer-reviewed by at least 5 (five) from ASIAN-COL 2024 reviewers (https://asiancol.umy.ac.id/2024/) assigned by the Editor using the EDAS system.  The peer-review process aims to evaluate the quality of each manuscript based on its research novelty and the quality of its methods, results, and interpretation.  In addition, the reviewers will be assigned to proofread and evaluate each manuscript for its compliance with the paper format based on Publishers. The ASIAN-COL 2024 Committee will allocate three weeks for the reviewers to complete these processes. Subsequently, the Editorial Board will do the final review of all manuscripts.

Finally, the editors will decide whether each manuscript will be accepted, returned to the author for correction, or rejected based on these reviews.  A manuscript will be rejected if its revision does not fully accommodate the feedback from the similarity check results by the reviewer. It will also be rejected if its revision is not submitted to the EDAS system before the deadline.

A manuscript will be accepted by the editor if it is accepted by at least two reviewers, provided no other reviewer rejects it.  If a manuscript has several minor or major corrections, its author will be notified to revise it.  At least two weeks of revision time will be given to the author. The Best Paper and The Best Presenter Awards will be given to a manuscript and a presenter to promote a competitive atmosphere at the conference.

Reviewers were instructed to assess the quality of submissions solely based on the academic merit of their content along the following dimensions:

  • Topic Relevance (How the topic discussed in the paper related with the scope/theme of the Conference)
  • Originality/Novelty (To what extent is the topic original or does the paper suggest novelty)
  • Depth of Analysis (To what extent do the authors analyse the research finding)
  • Significance (How does the paper contribute to the field?)
  • Methodology (How does the methodology used by the author relevant with the proposed aims and resulted in good findings?)
  1. Self-plagiarism and plagiarism are both forbidden.
  2. The author(s) must ensure that their works are completely original, and if they have cited or quoted the words or works of others, they must do so properly.
  3. In general, authors should not submit virtually identical findings to many journals or primary publications. It is against the norms of publication to submit the same work to many journals at once; doing so is inappropriate.
  4. Always give credit to others when credit is due for their work. Authors are expected to cite books that contributed define the nature of the reported work.
